An Indian project development company is seeking innovative effluent treatment technologies that will ensure zero liquid discharge from the paper and pulp industry. The company is currently developing an effluent treatment plant for processing 2 million liters per day of wastewater in north India. They are seeking industry partners for joint ventures, technical cooperation or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
The paper and pulp industry is categorized among the top polluting industries by the Indian Ministry of Environment & Forests as it requires significantly high quantity of water and discharges very high level of wastewater effluents at a rate of 20-50 m3/ton of dried pulp, which consists high BOD, COD, TSS as well as many toxic compounds. The typical ranges of such pollution indicators are BOD: 180-958 mg/L; COD: 262-1715 mg/L; TSS: 160-4388 mg/L of wastewater. The effluent contains dangerous chemicals and solids which causes hazard. The high BOD, COD and TSS content in the paper and pulp effluent makes it vital to develop an integrated treatment solution for attaining zero liquid discharge (ZLD).
An Indian project development company is developing a model project for one of major paper and pulp industries in Uttar Pradesh. Industry is discharging high volume of wastewater into river without complete treatment. The project requires an ETP with innovative and the finest technological solutions for complete zero liquid discharge and colored wastewater treatment of the wastewater.

The industry is generating 2 million liters per day (MLD) of wastewater of COD 593 mg. /L, BOD: 155 mg. /L, TDS: 2055, TSS: 981 mg. /L, and pH 7.5 into the river. The colored wastewater generated from the paper and pulp industry has high organic and inorganic pollution load and distinctive effluent characteristics which makes it difficult to treat. The current effluent treatment system has no capacity to treat entire generated wastewater. Current ETP is unable to treat colored waste water as there is no tertiary effluent treatment in ETP.
In the current scenario, there is a need for development of a suitable effluent treatment technology with low operational cost, low energy consumption & capable to treat colored water.
